Description:

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for leading the Plant’s manufacturing operations including production, P & E maintenance, manufacturing engineering, quality assurance and material handling .  This role leads the on-going continual improvement efforts for all plant manufacturing operations and attaining overall site business targets including safety, manufacturing, logistics, quality, volumes and costs.

Responsibilities:

·           Promote a safe working environment and maintain effective employee relations 

·           Hands-on / visible management and leadership style in a team environment

·           Establish and achieve plant production goals and guidelines

·           Direct and coordinate plant operations

·           Coordinate closely with functional leads in Finance, Human Resources, Purchasing and Production Planning to execute the business plan and manage the operations efficiently

·           Determine plant manpower requirements and works with the VP Global Manufacturing to adjust manpower up or down as needed

·           Provide manufacturing support to Product Development and Design Engineering groups including estimates for cost, lead times, capital, scheduling, ROI performance, customer delivery and                         logistics

·           Establish long and short range budgets, production rates, and capital requirements

·           Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with policies and procedures and applicable laws

·           Provide leadership to drive continuous improvement projects and culture in manufacturing

·           Coordinate closely with Sales and Product Management on customer requirements

·           Ensure production schedule attainment goals are met thereby satisfying customer requirements

·           Provide systems, IT support and employee resources to ensure reliable, quality material at lowest cost to meet customer on-time deliveries in an MRP2 environment

·           Utilize lean techniques to reduce waste

·           Ensure cost commitments are achieved to meet company EBITDA, free cash flow, working capital and asset management targets

·           Ensure quality improvement targets are achieved in line with customer expectations

·           Responsible for site capital plan

 


Experience/Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

·           Bachelors Degree – Engineering or Technical

·           5+ years management and leadership experience in manufacturing; welding industry-related manufacturing experience preferred

·           3+ years experience as an Operations or Plant Manager

·           3+ years experience with implementation of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma concepts/methodologies in manufacturing

·           High Performance/Self-Directed Team background

·           Proven record of team building and conflict resolution

·           Proven results in cost reduction, efficiency gains and process change on a plant floor

·           Industry knowledge of various manufacturing methodologies, processes and procedures

·           Leading and managing union and non-union employees with consistency

·           Possess strong project management skills and understand the importance of achieving key milestones on time, on target and on budget

·           Communicate effectively, frequently and at all levels of the organization

·           High energy, bright, analytical and organized executive drive toward success

·           Demonstrated results with safety, quality, volumes and cost

·           Customer service and productivity focused

·           Hands-on approach to implementing changests.

Preferred Qualifications:

·           MBA or MS Degree

·           Experience with Profit and loss (P&L) ownership, materials management, and warehousing and shipping 

·           Six Sigma Black Belt Certification and/or Lean Manufacturing Certification
